Alan Garner completed his Hill Rise winter bird survey in the final week on January, there were 12 species of bird present
- Wood pigeon
- Magpie
- Jay
- Blackbird
- Robin
- Starling
- Blue Tit
- Great Tit
- Long-tailed Tit
- Goldfinch
- Chaffinch
- House Sparrow
So, nothing notable (although the Jay was nice to see) but the Blue tits, Great Tits and Blackbirds were present in good numbers, mainly foraging in the hawthorn thickets and around the small pond. A pair of foxes spent around 10 minutes out on the lower meadow.
