Aidan and Emma, our butterfly experts, joined the volunteer team for the December conservation event. To improve the reserve for butterflies they put in 5 Garlic mustard plants that we grew in our garden this year. It is a biennial plant so they will flower next...

Thanks to PCEBS we now have the pallets needed to Thanks to PCEBS we now have the pallets needed to get started on the bug hotel at Hill Rise.

We've been out getting inspiration, like these beauties from @forest_centre and @theweirgarden_nt, and now we need some help.

If you have any the following spare, we can put them to good use:

Shed felt
Chicken wire
Corrugated cardboard
Hay/Straw
Pine cones
Clay pipe
Broken Terracotta pots / tiles 
Bamboo canes
Membrane

My turn for the butterfly transect this week, so a My turn for the butterfly transect this week, so a lovely trip up to Hill Rise in the sun this afternoon. There were butterflies, damselflies and lots of life in the ponds.

On Sunday April 24th we will be getting together f On Sunday April 24th we will be getting together for final tidying/clearing/pruning before we let nature take over for the rest of spring and summer! 

After a break for coffee & cake there will be a butterfly walk & talk for anyone interested in learning a bit more about butterflies, now that they have started to appear with the better weather. 

Please come and join from 09:30-12:30 and help keep Black Tom's hidden gem looking great for all!
